Alexandre Plante represents more than the new political generation in Brossard. He’s a real dynamo who drives Brossard Fast Forward with capital F’s. Being innovative and positioning Brossard as a leader in the fields of transport, sustainable development and green initiatives, these are the challenges that energize Alexandre Plante. He believes in Brossard, and he firmly believes that Mayor Paul Leduc, a leader with rigorous experience, is the one who can guarantee excellent management of public affairs and the future of Brossard.
Elected municipal councillor in 2009 and in 2013, Alexandre Plante chairs committees on the environment and sustainable development and on the fight against graffiti. He is also the councillor responsible for healthy lifestyles and the smart city.
Alexandre Plante is Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Réseau de transport de Longueuil. He represents Brossard at the Longueuil Urban Agglomeration’s commission on land use planning and sustainable development. He is also a member of the Montreal Metropolitan Community’s transportation commission. Impassioned by transportation and urban planning, he has completed several courses in these disciplines at the University of Montréal’s Faculty of Design. In recent years, he has been a panelist at various prestigious transportation events such as Movin’On and the Trottier Symposium on Sustainable Engineering, Energy and Design, to name just a few.
In 2011, the prestigious magazine l’Actualité recognized Alexandre as one of 25 personalities of the new political generation in Quebec. In 2017, Wixx magazine named him among its Top 50 people who are promoting health in Québec. Well known in the health sector, he was an invited presenter at the 2016 public health days, the annual professional development event for public health stakeholders in Québec.
Recognized for his continuing efforts to promote more sustainable development, Alexandre Plante was chosen by Al Gore’s organization to fight climate change, Climate Reality Canada, to attend training given by the former American Vice President. In Denver, Colorado, Alexandre Plante became a “Climate Ambassador”. He now gives presentations on the fight against climate change.
Although he’s only in his early thirties, Alexandre Plante is a true example of action and involvement. This is also why he works full time at his various functions, while pursuing studies in law at the University of Québec at Montreal, having already earned a certificate in Law from the University of Montréal.
A passionate cyclist, he participated in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 editions of the 1,000 km Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie. The team which he captains has donated more than $25,000 to Brossard schools. He is also a member of the Brossard Council 9741 of the Knights of Columbus.
